Tides

Emilio Teubal is a New York-based Argentinian composer. His latest album for solo piano brings consciousness to the fears of climate change, our lack of political will, and the condition of the world our children will inherit. Analog applications of paint, water, ink, and chemicals create layers to imitate the natural forms in our watershed. This piece is our third and most complete collaboration, which includes album artwork, video, and a self-published book of sheet music.

IF

During his years teaching in Chicago public schools, Doug Pietrzak wrote a series of poems to capture the beauty of possibilities from a student’s perspective. We wanted to create a book that feels like a primary school text, illustrated in a minimal style that evokes the classroom chalkboard. Relatable motifs of mundane charts, copy machines, and scantron forms pair with words of quiet emotion, contemplation, and humor.

documentary magazine

The International Documentary Association (IDA) connects audiences with the best of the form while defending the rights and freedoms of documentary artists, activists, and journalists around the globe. They also release a quarterly magazine to their community, for which I created a series of illustrations on various topics, including digital storytelling, airborne cinematography, and the pitfalls of creating an award campaign.

BREAKING POINTS

Directed by Tucker Capps, this documentary explores the stress and pressures our teens face every day, as well as the unhealthy ways that many of them cope, including abusing prescription stimulants. Art Director Aaron Pedersen hired me to illustrate the film’s key art, displayed at the IFC premiere in New York and on the Partnership to End Addiction website at drugfree.org

SLICE

Promotional poster for Lost Title Studio, inspired by my love for graffiti, signs, old buildings, and rides through the neighborhood on a vintage P200. I’ve been drawing and printing posters since high school, so this piece became a way to get back to my roots and produce something more personal.
